WHAT IS 1440?

 
 

The year is 1440. Johannes Gutenberg hammers away in his workshop, perfecting the movable type printing press. With the completion of his invention, Gutenberg changes the world. The printing press fundamentally changes how knowledge is passed between people and how far that knowledge can reach. Gutenberg unknowingly creates the publishing industry and revolutionizes the way content is shared. The time has come to discover the next innovation that will shape the future of the publishing industry.

1440 Innovation is a 14-week publishing accelerator run by the Nashville Entrepreneur Center and sponsored by Ingram Content Group. 1440’s goal is to foster publishing innovation for creating, distributing, or consuming print or electronic book content. Ideally suited for the program are early-stage companies that support book publishers, including independent authors, or help retailers, libraries, or educators connect with more readers.

The world has been educated, inspired, and empowered by books as long as typeset pages have been bound. 1440 Accelerator wants early-stage startups using today’s technology to help the publishing world connect even more readers with the books that will change their lives.
