By understanding the flow of their business process from start to finish, particularly what happens the second a customer comes into their business all the way to checkout and delivery.

With world experiences from starting in Kuwait, completing college in India, and migrating to the US in 2002 — what life skills have you found are best when running a Lean Startup?

Good decision-making is the premier life skill an entrepreneur must cultivate. The more an entrepreneur learns the more he will understand and the better decisions he can make.

What do you view as the single most important factor of the EC having the advisor program?

It is service and a priceless tool that, for those who will use it well, can help individuals avoid pitfalls and unnecessary misery while starting a business. Entrepreneurship can be a lonely journey and in today’s highly competitive world it is good for burgeoning entrepreneurs to have a “safe place” to engage with trusted advisors. It is priceless.

Did you have an advisor when you were starting your business venture, and, if so, what did it do for the growth of your company?

I was a solopreneur by choice and did not want to “grow” my business in the traditional sense of the word. However, the challenges of acquiring clients, doing the work, and making sales were the same as any other business. My advisors came in the form of books, my favorite being “The E-Myth Revisited” by Michael Gerber. That book taught me what a business really is and it gave me the confidence to hang up a shingle and give it a go. I am very proud and happy that I did.

What is your personal motto?

“Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood.” ~Marie Curie

Name the biggest overall lesson you’ve learned in running a business?

Work takes time to do. There are no two ways about it. What you do is a reflection of the quality you offer, who you are and why you do it. So, do it well or do it less, either way, it will take time and effort to do.
