Global Entrepreneurship Week shows vibrancy in Middle Tennessee
This week is Global Entrepreneurship Week, an annual week-long celebration of entrepreneurship started by the Kauffman Foundation, making it a fitting time to look at entrepreneurship in Middle Tennessee.
Just last month, Google chose Nashville as being one of their six technology hubs for entrepreneurs. Also, a national health tech accelerator, Healthbox, recently started an accelerator program at the Nashville Entrepreneur Center that is supported by our firm and BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee.
It was natural that they chose Nashville because of the wealth of entrepreneurs, mentors and abundant opportunities within the health care industry. Additionally, there are a number of venture capital funds and individuals in Nashville that fund early-stage health care companies. A few years ago, HCA established Health Insight Capital to invest $1 million to $3 million in three to five early-stage health-care companies each year that are bringing innovative solutions to the market.
