Nashville Entrepreneur Center Announces HCA as New Sponsor
NASHVILLE, Tenn.– Tuesday, April 8, 2014
The Nashville Entrepreneur Center (EC), an industry leader in the acceleration and growth of startup businesses, today announced a new sponsorship with HCA designed to further support the startup activity in Nashville’s health care industry.
Beginning in Quarter 2, 2014 the Nashville Entrepreneur Center will work with HCA to strengthen all healthcare-related programming. The Nashville Entrepreneur Center, a 501(C)3 organization, was launched in 2010 to connect promising entrepreneurs with investors, mentors and the critical resources they need to accelerate the launch of startup businesses across all industries. Working closely with established companies like HCA, allows for the greatest opportunity for these new businesses to succeed.
EC Chief Executive Officer Michael Burcham said, “We are incredibly happy to have the opportunity to work with HCA as we help the startups of this city grow. HCA is an incredible organization that epitomizes the potential successes of entrepreneurial growth in this city, and we appreciate their generous support.”
“As our healthcare industry continues to evolve, we continually are seeking ways to improve the delivery of high quality care and the patient experience,” said HCA president and chief executive officer R. Milton Johnson. “Nashville has a tradition of innovation and entrepreneurship, particularly in healthcare, and we are proud to support the great work by the Nashville Entrepreneur Center.”
Founded in Nashville in 1968, today HCA is one of the nation’s leading providers of healthcare services and currently operates 164 hospitals and 115 freestanding surgery centers across 20 states and London. HCA invests in select early stage companies that deliver innovative solutions for use in HCA’s operations through its investment subsidiary, Health Insight Capital. HCA was an inaugural sponsor of Healthbox, a Chicago-based healthcare accelerator that ran its first class in the fall of 2013 from the Nashville Entrepreneur Center. This new sponsorship will give HCA a forum to expand its engagement with entrepreneurs beyond the scope of Health Insight Capital’s support of Healthbox.
