Liz Rogers is Developing Local Musicians with Anacrusis

August 23, 2016 / Share:

In 2014, Liz Rogers left her job at a small country publishing company to start Anacrusis, a Nashville-based publishing and licensing company focused on emerging local alternative artists. In two years, the company has expanded to include an artist development side and a full publishing company. We’re also happy to celebrate that Anacrusis recently signed its first official writer to a publishing deal, Australian pop writer/producer Drew Southwell.

“We are so excited to expand in this direction and for Drew Southwell to be our first signing,” Liz said in a statement to MusicRow announcing the signing.  “He is an incredibly talented artist and a gifted songwriter, and has quickly become a recognized name in the pop scene here in Nashville.”

In addition to being an EC member, Liz is an advisor for the Project Music Accelerator. We’re happy to feature Liz and Anacrusis in this week’s EC Member Spotlight.

Describe yourself in one word:

Passionate.

Why are you interested in entrepreneurship?

I grew up surrounded by entrepreneurs, and I love the idea that you can build something out of nothing if you have the passion and drive to create it. I love being able to form my own team of people who have the same vision. And most importantly, I love being able to truly help artists – to be on their team and help them make a living with their music.

If you could meet any entrepreneur, who would it be?

Actually sit down and have lunch with? Reese Witherspoon.

What is your favorite aspect of the EC?

The people! Working in music, I am in the minority here at the EC, which is so refreshing since it feels like everyone I know works in music. I love being surrounded by tech companies and healthcare companies… and of course, Little Moskos! 🙂

What advice would you give to someone seeking to create, launch, or grow a business?

Building something takes a long time. I know – I’m still in the midst of it! Be patient and don’t be afraid to fail. Every “No” you hear puts you one step closer to hearing “Yes.”

How do you balance the entrepreneurial lifestyle?

I try to stay active and get outside, and travel as much as possible. Seeing the world and experiencing other cultures always gives me a better perspective of my life and my business, and how I want to grow. I also love hiking and yoga, and just spending time with friends. 🙂
