NAHCC Announces Partnership with the EC, Co-hosts Diversity and Inclusion Panel

Earlier this month, the Nashville Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce co-hosted a special reception and Corporate Leader Diversity and Inclusion Panel to announce a new partnership with the Nashville Entrepreneur Center (EC) to increase membership diversity. The announcement adds to the growing network of NAHCC’s strategic resource partners.
Panelists Davita Taylor, AVP Procurement and Diversity, with Metro Nashville Airport Authority; Ashford Hugues, Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer with Mayor David Briley’s Office; Daynise Joseph, Community Impact Manager with Google Fiber, and Consuelo Chavez, Engineer, Project Execution Manager for Schneider Electric responded to questions by Nashville Public Radio’s guest moderator Sergio Martinez-Beltran in regards of growing demographics, workplace diversity and what steps are necessary and/or can be suggested to help create “A Truly Inclusive Work Environment”. Members of the audience were also invited to participate during the Q&A.
“Due to projected growth among Asian, Hispanic and multiracial groups, traditionally underrepresented populations will hit majority status by 2044. The most recent U.S Census numbers released for National Hispanic heritage month are encouraging, placing our populations at 57.5 million. Hispanic businesses are growing at 3 times the rate of all U.S. companies, and we are 1.5 times more likely than the general population to start a business, —representing by now more than 20 percent of all U.S. entrepreneurs. Hispanics are, and have been, job creators, starting and operating small businesses in a global economy they contribute to the economic empowerment of our communities adding an estimated $700 billion in revenue to the national economy. At the end of the day, this is what makes our country strong. This is why finding synergies through collaborative efforts is the way to go” said Yuri Cunza, President & CEO of the Nashville Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

Benefit to NAHCC members: In turn the Nashville Entrepreneur Center will offer Nashville Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce existing members a $50.00 discount off EC CoWork monthly membership (normally $100/MO). New NAHCC members can also join and choose the joint option discount with personalized referral and assistance by a NAHCC representative to complete the process of joining the EC.
In addition, both organizations will collaborate in future Diversity and Inclusion programs and initiatives on an ongoing basis and as an added benefit to each other’s memberships.
