Project Healthcare 2019 meets in Nashville

October 3, 2019 / Share:

The Nashville Entrepreneur Center’s Project Healthcare teams traveled back to Nashville last Thursday for their second immersive experience as part of the year-long program. While in town, these founders connected directly to healthcare experts from industry partners, including Healthstream, HCA, Brookdale, Aspire, Amerigroup, Amsurg, LifePoint, and Carefluence.

“What stood out to me most these past two days is the connectivity and willingness of some of these companies and larger entities to work with startups,” Felicia Jackson, founder of CPR Wrap said.

The Project Healthcare Portfolio program is a highly selective opportunity for healthcare innovators to grow their companies with access to the EC’s network of industry experts for support and advising, as well as ongoing, intensive programming in Nashville.

This year’s cohort includes startups in medtech, care communication, data management and more. The 2019 teams are: Agile Care Solutions, CareLoop, Connetix Health (mCharts), CPR Wrap, Febris, Hifinite, kegg, Lief Therapeutics, Medicare Pathfinder, Midas Health, NPI Dashboard, OMNY, Recovhub, Shepherd.Systems, Sugarai, Tolerance360 and Xelpha Health.

The last time the teams were in Nashville was for the announcement of the 2019 cohort. Haley Combs, a program coordinator with the EC who works closely with the Portfolio teams, said she loves seeing how the teams grow between each of their on-site visits.

“How hungry and proactive these teams are continues to impress me. When we’re in meetings with Healthstream, for example, they’re so engaged and they’re asking such incredible questions that you have Bobby Frist giving out his personal phone number. You have our meetings with HCA and the clock gets to 5 and every single person in there is still engaged and even though it was supposed to end, those leaders are still generous enough to give their time because they’re really excited about the teams too.”

The connections these entrepreneurs were able to foster are thanks to our partners: Ascension, HCA, LifePoint, Nashville Health Care Council, Launch Tennessee, Carefluence.

The Nashville Health Care Council was instrumental in making the connections to speakers at leading healthcare organizations Nashville for the event. The NHCC is a collaborative organization that, for the last 20 years, has worked with its nearly 300 corporate members to put on events that push forward the growth of the healthcare industry in Nashville, the U.S. and the world. The council has long been a supporter of the Project Healthcare program and is using its powerful network to connect innovative entrepreneurs to healthcare leaders.

Those connections, cohort member and Hifinite CEO Mohammed Memon said, are what this program experience is all about.

“We made some great connections yesterday with HCA, I’ve got a follow up call with them, which is great, and then several other mentors we talked to. At this stage, we are in the scaling mode, and it was perfect timing for that, everyone I met is going to contribute towards us scaling as we go forward.”
