This was a packed out week at the Nashville Entrepreneur Center. Each week on our EC Podcast I do my best to pack in all the highlights from the week – all in under 20 minutes.
Utilize Health launches
After nearly 9 months of hard work, Utilize Health’s web application is LIVE! I stopped by the new Utilize Health headquarters in anticipation of the new web app launch. Their new office is located inside the Terrazzo building in Suite 103. Make sure to stop by and see them. Read Utilize Health story here. The video they referenced is called Jake’s Story; a testimonial from his family of when he suffered a traumatic brain injury and how Utilize Health helped them find the care they needed.
Startup Global Seminar pilot visits Nashville
This week we hosted The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Startup Global Seminar. I’ve included 4 interviews below in a playlist that explains what this is and how entrepreneurs can utliize their services to take their businesses international. There were national and local speakers, including David Green. He was speaking as a member of Connected Home within Schneider Electric and shared his experience as one of the “1st enterprise entrepreneurs.”
A big way companies can begin to export is by connecting with the resources established locally and federally through the Department of Commerce. Pat Kirwan, Director of the Trade Promotion Coordinating Committee Secretariat, said, “When companies run into problems, they tend to talk to either a banker, an accountant, a lawyer, or their economic development organization that they’ve been dealing with. In this case, it would be the Nashville Entrepreneurship Center, right? So that’s their first stop, but the fact that those folks are plugged into this wider community of the state, of the federal level, all of the sudden the company has access to an enormous amount of resource help…companies have access to diplomats in over 70 countries.” — This is an excerpt from my guest blog post on Tradeology, International Trade Administration. LaunchTN sponsored the lunch at Startup Global Seminar. This gave me the chance to follow up on a post that was recently published in The Tennessean titled, “Accelerator network continues to ramp up programming.” Charlie Brock shares in this short snippet a few things to look forward to this summer.
