SXSW 2016: CODE2040’s Events to Attend
March 3, 2016 / Share:
The EC is headed to South by Southwest next week, and CODE2040 co-founder and CEO and four-time SXSW veteran Laura Weidman Powers swung by our office this week during this quarter’s National Advisory Council on Innovation & Entrepreneurship (NACIE) meeting.
During her visit, she shared the CODE2040 story with EC staff, our 2016 diversity and inclusion scholarship winners AND our new EIR (announcement on that coming soon!) We also recorded an episode for a really exciting new podcast we’re working on (stay tuned for that announcement, too).

Laura Weidman Powers’ events to hit at SXSW 2016:
SXgood Stories: Myth of the Entrepreneur
Powers and three other entrepreneurial thinkers will be share stories of their entrepreneurship journey in a panel on March 14 in partnership with the Case Foundation on Myths of Entrepreneurship– “Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me!” style.

Back to the Future: The Future of Work Now
Later that day, CODE2040’s Vice President of Programs Karla Monterroso will be speaking on inclusivity in tech companies and entrepreneurship alongside LA Times culture writer Dexter Thomas, Medium senior engineer Jamie Talbot, and Sarah Wagener, vice president of talent acquisition and diversity at Pandora.
On the following Sunday night CODE2040 Residency Coordinator Aisha Lewis will also be featured on a panel at the WeDC House.
Google for entrepreneurs and CODE2040 Happy Hour
And of course, there’s the party at Capital Factory, hosted by Google for Entrepreneurs and CODE2040 on March 12.
“We’ll be announcing the seven entrepreneurs in residence, so it’ll be a big deal,” Powers said. “And Google throws a good party. Last year’s was really fun.”
