Theta Neurotech Wins Panel & Pitch: Tech Edition

August 23, 2023 / Share:

Panel & Pitch is one of the EC’s most favored events and our recent event focused all on tech.

After receiving 30 applications, our selection committee narrowed it down to four stellar companies:

  • InRev – Jack Genet
  • Neural Avifauna – Tawfiq Rawnak
  • Theta Neurotech – Truman Pierson
  • virsitour – Debbie Garcia

Event emcee, Elise Cambournac, CEO of Greater Nashville Technology Council kicked off our event by leading a panel discussion with “The A Team”:

  • Andrew Corbett of NTTData
  • Aunshuman Ghosh of Nissan
  • Andre Louie of SwitchPoint Ventures
  • Aaron Montlary of HCA Healthcare

Panelists shared some key factors with the audience of what they are looking for when partnering with different companies to address industry facing challenges. When asked by Cambournac for words of advice to entrepreneurs, each of their answers centered around relationships. This was a great reminder that building your business doesn’t happen alone!

Here are the key takeaways, in case you missed it:

Find creative ways to build relationships with people you want to do business with. – Aaron Montlary, HCA Healthcare

Always keep your end customer in mind. – Aunshuman Ghosh, Nissan

Be able to articulate reciprocal value during networking opportunities. – Andrew Corbett, NTTData

Being transparent and honest at the onset of forming relationships helps you truly progress later on. – Andre Louie, SwitchPoint Ventures

There Can Only Be One Winner

After each founder completed their three minute pitch, our “A Team” asked each participant questions about their business model, competitors, target market, and product. Next was voting time by the judges! The audience was also asked to participate in choosing their crowd favorite.

Congratulations to winner, Truman Pierson with Theta Neurotech! Not only did he go home with the $1,000 cash prize, but he also won the crowd favorite giving him three month access to our co-work space at the EC.

Theta Neurotech is using wearable EEG, an earpiece that alerts of an oncoming seizure with 97% accuracy. Their team is currently working on FDA approval to be able to work directly with neurologists as a prescribed wearable. This will greatly benefit doctors to be able to track epilepsy progress in order to improve seizure control.

We applaud all participants for having the courage to get up and pitch their business in front of a crowd!

Thank you to Dell Technologies for Startups and MSH Talent Solutions for sponsoring this event, in partnership with Greater Nashville Technology Council.
